What are SmartLinks?
SmartLinks are additional links that get inserted into a web page you are viewing. They look just like ‘normal’ links, except they're better.
How are SmartLinks better?
SmartLinks intelligently understand the context of what you're reading, and automatically link out to the most relevant content on the web.
They help you discover new content and learn more, faster.
What do SmartLinks link to?
SmartLinks point to whatever content is most relevant. Typically this means authoritative sites like Wikipedia for reference info or LinkedIn for professional bios.
What about privacy?
We take privacy very seriously. We do not track nor record any personally identifiable information, and your use of SmartLinks is completely anonymous.
Additionally, SmartLinks are completely disabled on secure (https) pages.
If you still have questions you can read our answers to Frequently Asked Questions about privacy. For further details, see our privacy policy.
Some links are sponsored by publishers. All sponsored content is reviewed by our staff to ensure quality and relevancy. Any revenue from sponsored links is shared with Feed Sidebar, so your use of SmartLinks helps to support continued development of Feed Sidebar.
Can I turn SmartLinks on or off?
Absolutely. To turn SmartLinks on or off, simply check or uncheck the ‘Enable SmartLinks’ option in the Tools → SmartLinks browser menu. To completely remove SmartLinks select 'Remove' in the same menu. (To see the Tools menu, Windows Firefox users may have to press and release the "Alt" key first.)
